In a preview clip for next week’s episode of Teen Mom OG, Tyler Baltierra gets a huge surprise when Catelynn dresses their daughter Nova in a shirt that reads “I’m going to be a BIG SISTER!” Tyler asks if it is true, and Catelynn says “Yes it is!” as she shows Tyler her pregnancy test.
Wait, what?! The clip had fans of the show confused because there has been no indication from Catelynn or Tyler that she was pregnant again.
Unfortunately, a source for The Ashley’s Reality Roundup reveals that Catelynn was indeed pregnant, and there is a reason we haven’t heard anything from the Baltierra’s about it. “Catelynn got pregnant and surprised Tyler and Nova and then had a miscarriage not long after,” The Ashley’s source reveals. “That happened right before she went to treatment [in November] when she tweeted about thinking about killing herself.”
The source goes on to point out that Catelynn had to do the voice overs for all of the season’s episodes after she suffered her miscarriage, which includes talking about all of the scenes about trying to get pregnant.
It’s not entirely clear how far along Catelynn was at the time of her miscarriage. “The crew and production staff heard she was about six weeks pregnant when it happened,” the source says, “but no one is 100 percent sure.”
The preview clip with Nova is not available online. The network has shared another preview clip for next week’s episode, however, in which we can see Catelynn taking a pregnancy test and being shocked at the results:
As you might imagine, Catelynn’s miscarriage will be a huge part of her story line later this season. If you watched this week’s episode of Teen Mom OG, then you know that Catelynn’s co-star Maci McKinney just revealed that she too suffered a miscarriage. She broke the news to producers while talking with husband Taylor about having more children (either via pregnancy or adoption) during an anniversary dinner.
In case you missed it, Catelynn just announced this week that she is returning to rehab for six more weeks of treatment, and I simply cannot imagine that the timing of the upcoming pregnancy reveal episode didn’t have something to do with that. Our thoughts are with Catelynn and Tyler, and we wish Catelynn the best!
