Social media is abuzz today after security camera footage from a recording studio shows singer/producer CeeLo Green talking on a cell phone as it explodes in in face, knocking him to the floor!

The clip was posted on Instagram by blogger Philly Chase, and the only information we have is what he included in the caption:
Exclusive!! #Ceelogreen Is Injured When Cell Phone Explodes In His Face!!!! Security Camera Footage from a recording studio where Ceelo green was working. His phone starts smoking then you see the phone explode and Ceelo collapses to the floor! Hope he’s ok!

There is no date stamp on the video, so it is unclear when it was shot. Also, it has not been confirmed that the man in the video is CeeLo Green. (The social media accounts for the former star of The Voice have remained silent since the clip went viral.)
Also unknown is the type of cell phone in the video. Of course, most folks assume it is a Samsung Galaxy Note 7 after the model was discontinued due to a defect that could cause the phone to overheat and explode, but the low resolution of the security camera footage makes it impossible to tell for sure.

UPDATE – CeeLo Green did a Facebook Live video Saturday evening in which he explained that the exploding phone footage was for an upcoming music project of his. Here’s the video followed by a transcript:
Hey y’all. Listen, I just want to let everybody know that I am alive, and I’m well, and I’m OK. And truthfully, I’m really upset that anybody had to be emotionally disturbed by what they saw today. And actually, what you saw today was a clip from a smaller video that we were shooting for a new project I’m doing called Gnarly Davidson. It’s supposed to set up…and introduce the new character identity, you now what I’m saying?…I’m still going to release the music though, you know what I’m saying? But first and foremost, and for everybody that love me and care about me I just want to let y’all know that I’m OK. OK? And I wanted to just thank everybody for their love and support and concern. Alright? And that’s really all I want to say. I’ve had a very difficult day dealing with everything, y’all. so y’all just bear with me, and much love, OK? Thank y’all.
