Amber Rose has been tearing up the dance floor with her partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy on Season 23 of Dancing With The Stars. Amber’s participation in the hit ABC dance competition hasn’t been totally smooth, though. Most recently, after performing a super sexy Salsa to the Jennifer Lopez song “Booty,” Amber complained that comments made by Julianne Hough made her feel body shamed, and she’s speaking out about how upset that made her.
On a recent episode of Loveline with Amber Rose, Muva discussed her recent DWTS experience with co-host, Dr. Chris Donahue. After Julianne’s comments about Amber were brought up during the podcast, she said, “Last night was like, they did the commentary, and I, it was a point in the dance where I had to lift my leg up and Maks dipped me & she said, ‘Oh, I’m uncomfortable,’ and instantly I felt, I did feel body shamed.”
That’s not all Amber had to say about the way Julianne reacted to her performance. “You know, all the beautiful professional dancers that are on Dancing With the Stars,” Amber continued. “I mean they dress very sexy and they do the splits and they grind up on these guys and they look absolutely stunning and get a standing ovation. And me and my body, my hips, my a**, my breasts made her uncomfortable.”
Julianne Hough has responded to Amber Rose’s response to her DWTS week 3 commentary: “To be clear, that was a produced package, not live coverage, and they can put those sound bites anywhere,” Julianne explained to E! News. “My ‘uncomfortable’ comment was about the fact that I felt like I wanted more out of the performance – when someone is doing a hot, sexy dance like that without the right amount of energy that is required, it can be uncomfortable to watch.”
Julianne went on to say, “Trust me I’m ALL for a sexy booty dance!! We all know that!! And any kind of body shaming goes against everything I believe in.”
It looks like the body shaming controversy isn’t over yet. During Amber Rose’s 2nd annual SlutWalk, the DWTS competitor talked about the incident again. Showing off her newly toned body in a lacy black corset and matching black panties, Amber took the stage and addressed the DWTS situation.
“We’ll talk privately, me and her, about that,” Rose said of the body shaming incident. “I’m about empowering women so we’ll have that conversation when it’s time.”

It’s unclear if Amber and Julianne will talk about what was said during the week 3 commentary while she is still competing on Dancing With The Stars, or if Amber will wait to discuss how she feels with the judge after her run on the show is over.
Julianne’s comment about Amber making her uncomfortable wasn’t the only criticism she took during the sexy salsa with Maks. It was also discussed during the show that Amber and Maks did quite a bit of twerking and not a real salsa. When it came down to it during the week 3 Face Off, it was pretty clear that the judges preferred Maureen McCormick’s version of the sultry dance way more.
Amber was able to survive the week 3 elimination and will move on to compete again on Monday night when Dancing With The Stars returns. Amber’s looks are definitely getting sexier each week, and a preview for the outfit she plans to wear for the Cirque du Soleil-inspired Argentinian Tango she has planned with her partner Maks is certainly must-see-TV.
