VIDEO TLC’s Submissive Wives’ Guide to Marriage preview: ‘I am always available, even if I’m not in the mood’

Submissive Wives Guide to Marriage

Mother’s Day was so last weekend… This week, TLC is all about honoring husbands by being an unquestioning, always available wife.

“Submission is one of the greatest gifts God has given woman… Her job description is to help her man, serve her man, submit to her man, and sleep with her man,” Tara Furman said in a preview for Submissive Wives’ Guide to Marriage. “It’s wrong to deprive my husband of sex, so I am always available, even if I’m not in the mood.”

In the special, long-time submissive wife Tara counsels Kristin Haywood, who is trying to save her 10-year marriage by being more passive in her relationship.

“She needs to be having hot sex with her man. That means making sure that his love tank is full,” Tara said of the advice she gave Kristin. “Kristin is not to deprive her man physically. It doesn’t matter the way she feels. She has to do it anyway. She has to suck it up and do it anyway.”

As Tara’s husband, Tim Furman, told Kristin’s husband, Mark Haywood, during a golf outing, submissive marriage isn’t always easy for the man, either.

“When people hear ‘submissive wives’ they’re like,’ Yeah, this road is going to be nice and easy,’ but it’s not,” Tim said. “For her to submit to you, you have to give her something to submit to.”

Submissive Wives TLC - Eddie and Autumn Miles

The third woman on the show, Autumn Miles, said she believes there’s a taboo around submissive marriages because some people think the dynamic is abusive. But, as someone who has experienced real abuse, Autumn said there’s a big difference. Now Autumn, who penned Appointed about her first marriage, said she still believes her successful second marriage “wouldn’t be possible without biblical submission.” Her husband, Eddie Miles, agreed, adding, “The Bible says wives should submit to their husbands.”

Submissive Wives’ Guide to Marriage airs on TLC this Sunday at 9/8c.
