VIDEO “Do They Know It’s Christmas” remade for Ebola relief

Band-Aid-2014

Over a dozen pop stars, including original (and recently cursed) crooner Bono gathered together to record a new version of 1984’s Band Aid song “Do They Know It’s Christmas” to aid in Ebola relief.

One Direction, Rita Ora, Sinead O’Connor and Sam Smith also lent their famous voices for the remake that hopes to raise a bunch of money to help stop the spread of Ebola in West Africa, where the vast majority of the over 5,000 people who have died from the disease have lived.

Some of the lyrics have been changed around including the complete removal of arguably the most misguided line in pop music history. In the original hit, Bono gave it his all as he sang out “Tonight thank God it’s them instead of you!” in reference to those fighting famine in Ethiopia.

Man – it just isn’t the same without Bananarama
