VIDEO Hilary Duff responds to Aaron Carter’s profession of undying love

Hilary Duff Watch What Happens Live

Hilary Duff says teenage sweetheart Aaron Carter needs to let dreams about rekindling their romance go.

On Wednesday’s Watch What Happens Live, Andy Cohen asked Hilary how she felt when Aaron tweeted he’ll spend the rest of his life trying to win her back — with the “back” part being reference to when they dated as young teens.

“Ugh! I don’t know,” she said after joking she would “hurt” Andy for asking the question. “I don’t know what to say about it! It was so many years ago. I literally haven’t seen him in… So, it’s uncomfortable.”

“He’s just feeling you on Twitter, publicly,” Andy said.

Hilary added she appreciated that, saying “it’s nice to be felt.” She also explained to fellow guest Giada De Laurentiis that Aaron was “very sweet” when they dated at the age of 13. Considering everything, I think Hilary handled the awkward situation pretty delicately.

After Aaron professed his love in March, Hilary’s told Buzzfeed that the biggest reason why a romantic reunion wouldn’t work is that she and Aaron are in different phases of life.

“I mean, that was so long ago, and obviously I’m still married and I have a baby,” the actress said.

Aaron then said Hilary will always hold a special place in his heart, but he’s “not trying to be that dude.” At least they’ll always have memories of “Candy.”
