VIDEO William Shatner and Sarah Palin together on The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien

Sarah Palin reading William Shatner on Conan O'Brien

Former governor of Alaska Sarah Palin got some sweet revenge tonight thanks to Conan O’Brien and The Tonight Show. William Shatner read some of Sarah Palin’s tweets as beat poetry on the show back in July. Ol’ Will kicked things off by reading some passages “Mr Tambourine”-style from Sarah Palin’s recently published autobiography Going Rogue.

It was then Sarah’s turn and she delivered some hilarious lines from William Shatner’s own autobiography, Up Till Now. Here’s the classic performance:

Even Sarah’s detractors will have to give her a few points if only for being a good sport.

The best part by far was her reading of the lines,

My whole being resonated with the increible feeling that I was going to go visit with an elephant on a starlit moonless night in Africa, and I was going to visit that elephant in my underwear.

And, in case you missed it or avoided it because of your love for Sarah, here are the original William Shatner Sarah Palin readings from The Tonight Show. The first features Shatner reading Sarah Palin’s tweets and the second is Captain Kirk reciting Sarah Palin’s farewell speech when she stepped down as governor of Alaska.

In case you have no idea what all this Palin/Shatner nonsense is about, here’s an audio clip of William Shatner’s classic cover of Bob Dylan’s “Mr. Tambourine Man” and a video of him performing Elton John’s “Rocket Man,” which should provide you with the proper historical context:
