Korie Robertson and Willie Robertson 2013 White House Correspondents' Dinner

Fresh off their monstrously duckcessful Season 3 finale Wednesday night, Duck Dynasty‘s Willie Robertson and wife Korie Robertson celebrated with a trip to the nation’s capital where they participated in the 2013 White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner. Though some may assume the bushy bearded, outdoor loving Willie might be a duck out of water at the formal affair, in my mind it made perfect sense that the Duck Commander would pay a visit to the lame duck Commander in Chief. OK, OK, enough wisequacking…

Here are Willie and Korie (before gettin’ all yuppied up, Jack!) arriving at the airport in Washington, D.C. Friday:

And here they are on the red carpet at the actual White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner Saturday night:

Willie looked a bit awkward in a suit and tie, but he was able to retain a bit of his country soul with his patented headband and a pair of anything but dress shoes.

“I’m at White House correspondents dinner. Surprised I’m the only person wearin a bandana,” Willie tweeted. (That’s probably only because the other famous Willie with long hair and a beard wasn’t in attendance this year. Of course, that other Willie might not be welcome at the White House since his infamous time spent on the roof there with Jimmy Carter.)

Korie Robertson, on the other hand, embraced the red carpet occasion and looked stunningly royal in her sleeveless gown! That there is nothing short of a Princess y’all! (Anyone else getting a Beauty and the Beast vibe here? lol)

Willie and Korie attended the event as guests of CBN News, the news arm of the Christian Broadcasting Network. In addition to the Robertsons, CBN News also invited former Green Bay Packers wide receiver (and Dancing With the Stars vet) Donald Driver and his wife Betina, in addition to Patrick and Gina Neely, hosts of Down Home With the Neelys on the Food Network.

“CBN is honored to be hosting these distinguished guests,” CBN Washington bureau chief Robin Mazyck said in a press release. “These couples — the Robertsons, Drivers and Neelys — they have big hearts, they are happy to share their time, their talents and their Christian faith with others. We look forward to a fantastic evening.”

Donald Driver tweeted this next photo of the whole CBN WHCD gang on the red carpet at the People magazine event Friday night along with the words, “Hanging with my boy @williebosshog”

And in case you didn’t know, congratulations to the entire Robertson family as well as A&E as an unprecedented 9.63 million viewers tuned in to the the Duck Dynasty Season 3 finale Wednesday night, earning the show a 4.3 18-49 rating, which beat Fox’s American Idol (which had a 3.3 18-49 rating) heads up! (Idol did manage more total viewers with 12.46 million, however. But, just wait til next year!)
