Steve Harvey recently celebrated a birthday on his show and the producers dropped a serious surprise on the popular comedian. Harvey’s overwhelming and tearful (happy tears) response let everyone know that what went down was unquestionably unbeknownst to him. The call came from a couple that helped Steve out during a difficult period in his life.
Get some tissues ready and watch as Harvey gets verklempt while speaking to the people he’d been looking to track down for years.
In the few moments Harvey was able to gather himself he said:
“I was 26-years-old man, I was struggling. I didn’t have nothing. And these people owned a furniture store in Cleveland. They took me in and gave me my first contract with my little carpet cleaning company. When I became a comedian at 27 I didn’t have money to travel. They gave me an account at their travel agency. Man, I ran up a bill of like $11,000 just trying to travel and make it.”
Steve added, “You bailed me man. I never forgot it. Thank you and I love you.”
