Kandi Burruss and her non-scrub boyfriend Todd Tucker are officially engaged! The Real Housewives of Atlanta star accepted the proposal of her hunky line producer man on New Year’s Day and she reveals all the details in a new interview.
“I was totally surprised,” Kandi tells Us Weekly, even admitting to getting a bit choked up when Todd got down on one knee.
Prior to the proposal, Todd talked things over with Kandi’s 10-year-old daughter Riley who, of course, gave him her blessing. Once he cleared things with Riley, Todd headed to the jeweler where he purchased Kandi a two carat diamond engagement ring designed by Gregg Ruth.
There to witness the proposal at Kandi and Todd’s home in Atlanta were Phaedra Parks and her husband (and Donkey Booty workout DVD co-star) Apollo Nida, who just announced they were expecting baby #2, as well as several other friends of the couple.
Even though Kandi and Todd had been dating for a while, Kandi still was caught off guard by his proposal and admits that she used to think that she’d never make it down the aisle. “I used to make jokes with my friends that I [was] part of the Forever Single Club,” she tells the mag, adding that she and Todd plan to expand their family once they wed. “That’s what I said before, but now I’m totally different.”
While Kandi didn’t disclose whether or not the proposal was caught on tape, it seems to be a possibility — especially since it went down during a social event involving another one of her co-stars. So.. fingers crossed!
