Random Twitter war: CNN anchor Don Lemon calls Jonah Hill “a tool”

Every once in a while celebrities throw down with some wonderfully random Twitter wars. We’ve covered our share but this may me the most slapdash and favorite one I’ve done.

CNN news anchor Don Lemon felt dissed by 21 Jump Street star Jonah Hill and took his frustrations to social media. Seriously. Don Lemon vs. Jonah Hill!?! Apparently Don bumped into Hill at a hotel and got his feeling hurt after he felt dissed while attempting to exchange pleasantries. Lemon wrote:

“Said hi to @jonahhill in hotel. Think he thought i was bellman. Didn’t know his name til bellman told me. A lesson to always be kind.”

When a follower of Lemon’s asked him about the encounter Don took it next level:

Oh Twitter-snap! D-Lemon just called J-Hill a freakin’ tool man. Lemon is openly gay and made headlines when he revealed that he was a victim of a pedophile during an interview he was conducting. Jonah finally responded with a dig of his own:

“I said hi. What do you want me to do, move in with you? I was in a hurry. Didn’t realize you were a 12 year old girl. Peace.”

Oh no he Twitter-didn’t! Jonah Hill dropped a “little girl” diss upside Don’s dome with the closing sanctimonious “peace.” Once again I will remind you (and myself) that we’re talking about Don Lemon and Jonah Hill here. Don kindly informed Jonah that, “Hardly. You’re not my type. But I know rude. And u were.” Gentlemen, let’s have a little social media discourse please. Think of the children!

Within the awkward battle Jonah felt the need to explain how the encounter transpired from his viewpoint:

“I walked out of the restroom and found you waiting for me. Shook hands, said hi and was on my way. Sorry if you found that rude.”

That seems fair enough but h-e-double-hockey-stick no when you’re dealing with Don “Twitter-Tiger” Lemon. He just couldn’t let it go:

“The bellman and I laughed at how self-important you were. Just being honest. Be nice. Stardom is fleeting.”

Duuuuuude. Jonah later took down his tweets while Lemon looked to make a little face time in regards to the incident by sharing that he would be discussing the incident with Soledad O’Brien.

So are you a Lemon-head or a member of the Hill-toppers? From my vantage it sounds like sour grapes from Mr. Lemon. His job is to report the news, not make it. Actually when I think about it, this sounds like a great concept for a Jonah Hill comedy vehicle; Random anchor gets in Twitter war with star, it escalates and comedy ensues.
