Fans have been hearing about Sonja Morgan’s toaster oven for a while now, and yet there’s still no sign of the thing. Even after recruiting her Real Housewives of New York co-star Heather Thompson to help her with marketing, she doesn’t seem to be any closer to the big reveal. So, what’s the hold up?!
The answer is simple — money. Earlier this month when a fan asked Sonja where they could go to buy her toaster over, she replied, “Need investor for #SonjaHome,” and during a recent interview with The Examiner, Sonja elaborated on what was happening with her business venture saying, “I need a backer to make these toasters. I have a manufacturer, but I need to make sure they’re shipped properly.”
While she’s been patiently waiting for an investor for her toaster ovens Sonja has gotten offers regarding the corresponding cookbook. That’s right.. Sonja almost joined the ranks (as she planned to) of Bethenny Frankel and Teresa Giuidice and added “author” to her resume. However, the offer wasn’t quite enough for her to sign on the dotted line.
“I did have offers regarding the cookbook from publishers but didn’t feel it was enough money to go on tour because I have a daughter at home & I want to stay with her. If I’m going to take time off for the tour, it’s going to have to be worthwhile. So I started rewriting the book & putting in lifestyle tips.”
If the whole toaster oven thing doesn’t pan out for Sonja, she’s got a plan B. “I’m looking into doing a bubby wine collection of drinks.” If she does go that route, she’ll definitely have good guidance. Her BFF Ramona Singer knows that business well!
