Author Stephen King entertained a gathered audience at George Mason University by not only revealing the near completion of but reading from his highly anticipated The Shining sequel, Dr. Sleep. That’s right, Johnny’s back and you can hear a portion of it here if you’re down with the spoilage!
Dr. Sleep features a grown up Danny Torrence as a hospice worker who uses his powers to help ill patients to pass away without pain. Unfortunately, he runs on the bad side of a gang of wandering psychic vampires that feed on people’s energy. The manuscript is close to being a done deal according to King.
The following clip isn’t the best video quality but it certainly gives King’s fans a great taste for the upcoming novel and folks in general the man’s gift for story telling. Check it out.

It’s now official–Stephen is working on Dr. Sleep, the sequel to The Shining. This weekend Steve read an excerpt from this at his appearance at George Mason University. They have given us permission to post their taping of the event here on Steve’s site which we will do as soon as we receive the file. Dr. Sleep’s plot includes a traveling group of vampires called The Tribe which is part of the passage he read from.

You da’ man Stephen. Since we’re talking about King what’s your favorite book by him and/or your favorite movie adaptation? As for his writing, mine would be The Long Walk and there’s no doubt which movie is “king,” The Shawshank Redemption.
