ABC has officially apologized for a skit aired last week on Jimmy Kimmel Live! following complaints from several organizations. The bit was called “Kids Table” and it featured Kimmel hosting a round table discussion with kids to mock the childish behavior of politicians during the government shutdown. During the segment, one of the kids made an unscripted comment that ignited outrage after being asked about the debt America owes China. Read the network’s apology and see the skit ABC has vowed to remove from any future airings (and the internet) and decide for yourself if the show went too far.

Although Jimmy had previously stated the ceremony would be “mostly a family affair,” it appears as though those plans were thrown by the wayside as close to 300 friends and family were in attendance, including tons of A-list celebrities like Ben Affleck, Jennifer Garner, Ellen DeGeneres, Portia De Rossi, Howard Stern, Jennifer Aniston, Emily Blunt and John Krasinski.
