The Dark Knight Shooter James Holmes has teenage fans who organize themselves on various internet sites and call themselves “Holmies.”

Buzzfeed has pieced together the internet presence of this disturbing subculture.

Christian Bale, who plays Batman in the Christopher Nolan series, was horrified by the Dark Knight shootings in Aurora, Colorado and is now visiting the victims. Twelve people were killed, and 58 were wounded when Joshua Holmes opened fire at a midnight premiere showing of The Dark Knight Rises in Aurora early Friday morning.

James Holmes had his arraignment hearing this morning for his alleged attack at a midnight showing of The Dark Knight Rises that resulted in the death of 12. Following this hearing the district attorney’s office run by Carol Chambers will have 72 hours from the hearing to file formal charges. In addition this hearing also provided the first look at one of Holmes’ public defenders.
