Darlene Cates (now 64), who once topped the scales at 575 lbs., stole a lot of hearts in her role in 1993′s What’s Eating Gilbert Grape as an obese mom of a large family (including a mentally handicapped played by Leonardo DiCaprio.) Now she’s happy to report that she’s lost nearly half her body weight, and is ready to get back to work.
