Heath Ledger’s legendary portrayal of The Joker in The Dark Knight was influenced by many things, including Malcolm McDowell portrayal of Alex ins the 1971 film adaptation of A Clockwork Orange and Side Vicious from The Sex Pistols, but it seems that Heath borrowed his accent and mannerisms from musician/performance artist Tom Waits, as he was in 1979.

Blueprint Pictures and CBS films have just announced that singer/actor/raspy Übermensch Tom Waits will be joining the cast of their upcoming film project Seven Psychopaths, which means he will be sharing the screen alongside actor/comedian/dancer/cowbell enthusiast Christopher Walken – creating perhaps the hippest on screen pairing of all time!
Well friends I may be a little partial due to my infatuation with both Cookie Monster and Tom Waits but the following mashup of the two to Waits’ great “God’s Away On Business” is the greatest I’ve seen in the genre. It’s hilarious, haunting, moving and entertaining all at the same time. Hell I’d go as far to say that the mercurial Waits would love it. This is an incredible must see work of pop art.
One of my personal musical heroes, Tom Waits, was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame last night by none other than Neil Young. Read on for some amazing quotes like, “Any day on this side of the dirt is a great day,” from his induction speech and then hold onto your seats as you see the mind altering four-song set list from his performance!

See photos of Kim Kardashian getting intimate with a tiny ice cream cone and toting a copy of Talk Dirty Spanish on a sidewalk in Beverly Hills. Lame post you say? I’ll let the photos speak for themselves! (With a little help from Tom Waits)
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has recently nominated mercurial artist Tom Waits for induction. They may just take that nomination back when they hear his rejected theme song for Iron Man 2!
It comes as no surprise that Waits is a cinema nut but who knew he was so passionate about Tony Stark and his suit of iron? Take a listen for yourself and see what you think of the Tom Waits’ Iron Man 2 theme song that didn’t make the grade.
The list of nominees has been released for the 2011 class of Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees! See the complete list and YouTube samplings from each artist! (Also see some of the notable snubs.)
Here’s the latest poster for the much-anticipated movie The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus, which was the last project Heath Ledger worked on before his death last year. The poster is a little on the busy side, but that’s only because it tries to work in most all of the all-star cast including Heath, Johnny Depp, [...]
Is there nothing Scarlett Johansson won’t do to avoid having to star in a decent movie?!?! Her latest distraction is a marriage to Ryan Reynolds, which took place Saturday night at a resort in the boonies near Vancouver. The wedding follows on the heels of Scarlett’s foray into music, the album “Anywhere I Lay My [...]
