Buckwild’s Salwa Amin pleads guilty to drug charge, shares sobriety struggle with fans

Former Buckwild star Salwa Amin pleaded guilty Monday to one count of conspiracy to possess with intent to deliver a controlled substance stemming from her February drug arrest. The 25-year-old originally faced an additional charge of possession with intent to distribute heroin and oxycodone, but that charge was dropped as part of a plea deal that included Salwa attending inpatient rehab for her addiction — which she has since successfully completed prior to moving into a sober living house. Keep reading to catch up with Salwa, who has been completely open and honest with her fans online about her recovery struggles.

Buckwild’s Salwa Amin to enter rehab, then back to jail

Former Buckwild star Salwa Amin will be released from jail to enter a rehab facility to deal with her opiate addiction. The 24-year-old Amin was originally arrested for drug related charges on February 11 before being released and then returning to jail after failing a mandatory drug test on March 27. Salwa will reportedly be returning to jail after her rehab stint and await her court date for the original drug charges.

VIDEO Interview Salwa Amin on Shain Gandee’s death, drug addiction, future of Buckwild

Earlier this month Buckwild star Salwa Amin conducted a jailhouse interview with local television station WVNS in which she candidly, and very humbly, talked about her arrests, her opiate addiction, the death of her Buckwild cast mate Shain Gandee, and MTV’s decision to put the show on hold. (The network has since announced the cancellation of the series, but at the time they had merely announced filming had been put on hold.) Also, a video recorded by Salwa on her way to turning herself in after failing her drug test!

VIDEO and transcript of Salwa Amin’s arraignment

Yesterday we posted a couple video clips taken from Buckwild star Salwa Amin’s arraignment after she was arrested Monday morning in West Virginia and charged with four felony counts of drug possession with intent to distribute. Thanks to WCHS TV we now have access to the entire arraignment, which was conducted live via video with a very tired Salwa still in custody at the Central Regional Jail. Keep reading for a transcript and video of all Salwa had to say during the arraignment, which includes her claim that she, the two other suspects, and the drugs were all in an “outhouse” with a separate address from the one one the search warrant. (Cue Law & Order sound effect!)
