There was a British invasion in Memphis last night when Prince Harry and Prince William went out to celebrate their friend’s pre-rehearsal dinner. They attracted a large crowd of local onlookers who aren’t used to seeing the royals on this side of the pond.
Prince George stole the show when arriving to New Zealand with his parents for his first state trip. In just his third public appearance, the 8-month-old seemed to be on his best behavior — despite just 30 hours of travel.
Prince George made his second public appearance today for his christening at Chapel Royal in London. The 3-month-old heir to the throne was presented by Prince William and Duchess Kate, who made some nontraditional decisions for the ceremony.
The Duchess of Cambridge wowed crowds during her first public appearance post-pregnancy. Her presence was actually a surprise to many of those who gathered at the start of a British ultra-marathon, as Kate wasn’t scheduled to make a public appearance until Sept. 12.
All eyes were on her body, which showed no remaining signs of pregnancy.
For Americans the British Royal Family is fun. We get caught up in the romance of it. We don’t have people with official titles straight from fairytales like “King” or “Princess” or “Duke” around here, and we’re not always sure what exactly they do, or how they make the money that keeps them uber rich and luxuriating in a lavish royal lifestyle. They never seem to have real jobs, and making impeccable and gracious public appearances seems to be the only thing they do. People make jokes about them being a drain on the British taxpayers, but are they really?
