Britney’s hot new track “Hold it Against Me” is an airy, simple dance track with the requisite amount of sexual innuendo. The music video, which premiered Thursday night, it a lot smarter than that. It’s a cheeky nod to the strange world she inhabits. It’s got plenty of product placements (including heavy pushing of dating website Plentyoffish.com, who also featured prominently in Lady Gaga’s “Telephone” short film last year.)
Britney has her backup dancers with her in a giant cylinder make up of camera equipment, and televisions playing her old music videos. Instead of hitting on a hot guy at a club, Britney flirts with the cameras, fame, commercialism, her past and ultimately battles herself (with the help of “dance-double” Allison Kyler.)
A levitating wedding gown and “finger painting” is also involved:
Many Britney fans think this video is a success, but others hold her dance moves against her.
What do you think, is this another victory for Ms. Spears?
