QB Nate Montana leaving Notre Dame to play for University of Montana

29099, MAUI, HAWAII - Tuesday March 10 2009. Nate Montana, son of American Football legend Joe Montana, spends another hot and sunny afternoon on the beach in Maui. The 18-year-old is following in his father's footsteps by attending the University of Notre Dame and playing for their team. Quarterback Nate showed off his toned pecs and six pack, attracting much attention from the females on the beach as he splashed in the ocean before joining his mom and girlfriend for a game of volleyball. In a where are they now meets ironic school name meets legendary QB’s son post I present to you the current whereabouts of Joe Montana’s son Nate Montana.

In a previous post that included a mug shot we featured Nate in a rather unfortunate incident at his previous school and his famous father’s alma-mater Notre Dame.  The younger Montana was arrested during a party raid in which many in attendance were underage drinkers.

Nate’s strange journey as a QB has taken him to the previously mentioned Notre Dame to Pasedena Community College back to South Bend and Notre Dame and now to The University of Montana.  That’s right, when Montana suits up he’ll be playing for Montana which means he’ll have his name on the back and front of his jersey!

Here is part of the Billings Gazette report on this latest stop for Nate:

University of Montana athletic director Jim O’Day confirmed to the Missoulian Monday night that Nate Montana, son of NFL Hall of Fame quarterback Joe Montana, has enrolled at the University of Montana.

“He’s enrolled as a student, and he started classes today,” O’Day said. “Then I would assume he’s a walk-on, because we have no (scholarship) aid as of this semester.”

O’Day seemed to think Montana enrolled on Friday, the last day to do so for the current semester at UM.

Good luck to Montana at Montana.  Here’s a little video tribute to Nate and his new college digs:
