Jack Black and Jason Segel star together in the upcoming holiday film Gulliver’s Travels. While working on the film the two took time out of their schedule to record a cover of David Bowie and Bing Crosby’s classic version of “Peace on Earth / Little Drummer Boy” from way back in 1977.
If you’re like me you’re probably wondering why anyone would dare try to replicate the beauty of the original that teamed what seemed to be two polar opposites in one of the most treasured Christmas music videos of all time. I have to confess that after viewing and hearing the following my attitude changed and I’m glad Black and Segel went there.
It’s a reverent and touching tribute with all proceeds being donated to Blue Star Families, a nonprofit organization formed by real military families that looks to, “…connect, support and empower military families by offering solutions that make military family life more sustainable.”

Now like I said, I do very much enjoy this version but there will never be anything close to the original. I’d be amiss if I didn’t provide that clip here in tribute.
