What’s the real reason Brad Goreski left Rachel Zoe?

The cast of The Rachel Zoe Project has more turnover than a Hostess factory! (Does Hostess make turnovers?) First there was the controversial and unamicable departure of assistant Taylor Jacobson prior to this season and now her right hand gay man Brad Goreski has announced he will be leaving the shadow of Zoe to become an independent celebrity stylist!

People magazine talked to Rachel and Brad about the split and unlike the Taylor firing/quitting both parties seemed quite friendly:

“I love Rachel and she’s taught me everything I know,” Goreski, 33, tells PEOPLE exclusively. “But there’s a point where either I do it now or I’ll never know what it’s like to spread my wings and soar.” In the October 11 issue of the magazine he says making the decision to leave “was so hard, but I’m like the oldest assistant on the face of the earth.”

Rachel also had nothing but nice things to say about Brad:

“We couldn’t stop hugging and we couldn’t stop crying,” she says. “He did this with such class and elegance. And I get it. I just told him, ‘I’m here for you always.’” She adds, “He just did so right by me and was so honest.”

Rachel has even been posting numerous photos of herself and Brad looking chipper as can be on her website. Here are the photos with their captions:

But is this lovefest just for show? Rob Shuter at PopEater has sources that says it is! From Rob’s “Naughty But Nice” post about the break up:

“Brad was sick of doing all the work while Rachel got all the credit,” a fashion insider tells me. “While Rachel feels used by Brad. She feels as if she taught him everything and the second he got a chance to leave her high and dry he did.”

He continues with even more juicy details!

“Fashion week was definitely the turning point,” a friend of Rachel’s tells me. “Brad was sitting on the front row of every show and getting invited to as may events as his boss. However the final straw was when Brad appeared on the cover of The New York Times style section. Rachel hit the roof and reminded him he was her assistant and it was called ‘The Rachel Zoe’ show not the Brad Goreski show. That was the moment that the two of them were over.”

MEOWWW!!! I’m not sure if the truth lies in either extreme but something tells me you don’t quit Rachel Zoe and have everything be hunky dory with cake, so I’m gonna lean towards the PopEater take on things and assume Rachel is just trying to make it look nice after the Taylor unpleasant incident so she doesn’t appear to be a selfish and bitchy boss. Plus, the recent “Rachel Zoe is pregnant” rumors seem to fit into the “Stop looking at him, look at ME!” theme.

What do you think? Do you think it’s possible Brad and Rachel split happily? Will you tune in next season without Brad or Taylor?
