VIDEO Bob Dylan signs album on ‘Pawn Stars’

Bob Dylan appears on Pawn Stars

As a Bob Dylan fan I didn’t believe that he would follow up his cameo on Will & Grace with an even more random show, but I was way wrong.

The living legend showed up on the reality show Pawn Stars of all places as Chumlee, the Vegas pawn shop goof, was sent to Caesar’s Palace to get a signed vinyl copy of Bob Dylan’s album Self Portrait.  Ignorant of how inconceivable and impossible this mission was Chumlee made his way to Caesar’s, hung out, waited for Bob to show and landed the autograph he was sent to receive!

My emotions ran the gauntlet from jealously to disbelief to a divine appreciation of “ignorance being bliss.”  Here is some dude named Chumlee actually talking with Bob Dylan and getting him to sign his record. I know, it’s unbelievable.

“Insanity is smashing up against my soul
You can say I was on anything but a roll
If I had a conscience, well, I just might blow my top
What would I do with it anyway
Maybe take it to the pawn shop”
– Bob Dylan

Rolling Stone followed up with Chumlee and the dude couldn’t even name any of Dylan’s songs.  He said he liked Hendrix and that he knew that the guitar legend had covered some of his tunes.  Sometimes life just isn’t fair, but I digress.

Dylan is infamously reclusive and the show producers stated that it was very difficult to secure the footage for their show.  Chumlee actually disobeyed his boss’ order because he was supposed to just have it signed “Bob Dylan” but instead had his Bobness sign “To Chumlee, Bob Dylan.”  I reluctantly admit the guy isn’t a complete waste.

Here are a few additional stills from the chance encounter between my hero and some pawn shop scrub named Chumlee:
