Former JetBlue employee Steven Slater, who romanced the world with his cinema-esque departure from employment, was described as “flamboyant” by police and had a boyfriend at home so it comes as a bit of a surprise to learn he has been married to a woman for 15 years.
They were apparently high school sweethearts (or JC Penney sweethearts) who went to the prom together and got hitched in Vegas on May 5, 1991. They only cohabited for a few months, but his wife Cynthia Susanne Niethamer waited fifteen years to file for separation. She cited “fraud” as the reason for the separation, but the divorce still hasn’t gone through!
But his marriage hasn’t stopped Slater from seeking out love. After his immaculate “I quit” rant, beer steal and emergency exit shoot ride he went home and crawled into bed with his boyfriend Kenny Rochelle, which is where he was when police showed up to arrest him.
This blogger knew Slater and Cynthia back in the day and was even the Maid of Honor at their wedding! The internet’s such a small world.
Just reconfirms the stereotype of gay men being histrionic, out of control, passive aggressive haters. Having dealt with emotionally out of control wacko airline stewardesses before, I for one hope they throw the book at this nutter and lock him in prison.
Jet Blue and all its passengers are MUCH safer not having someone like him on any airplane in ANY position of responsibility. Just be glad he did not snap and go psycho midair and decide to open an emergency hatch in order to “teach someone a lesson.” The guy is a danger to everyone around him and deserves the termination and court date he got.
