New Michael Moore Documentary On The Economy Gets Release Date

****UPDATE 7/9/09 - M&M has released a title for his bad economy flick: Capitalism: A Love Story

Overture Films and Paramount Vantage have announced a release date for Michael Moore’s latest project, which is an as-yet-untitled look at the global economic meltdown. The Michael Moorson Welles joint will hit theaters October 2 of this year.

Michael Moore tackles the economy

As I mentioned in a previous post, I don’t think too highly of Michael Moore. He is the left’s equivalent of Rush Limbaugh who makes political propaganda films posing as some sort of underdog everyman. (Which worked well the first time, with Roger and Me, but has since been a distasteful epic fail)

The worst part is that these topics deserve in-depth documentaries (What
is at the heart of violent crime in our society? What can we do about healthcare?) similar to Gore’s An Inconvenient Truth, but all we get is a chubby pitiful Borat interviewing Charlton Heston and Dick Clark. And to
top it off, he gets an Oscar for that crap?! Give me a break.

Bleh – you can read more of my thoughts on Michael Mooer [ed] here.

Check out the healthy debate inspired by this cartoon over at reddit.com:

Dude, have you considered writing for moorewatch.com?

      srsly

Oooof – I have to confess that poking fun at Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan is actually a little enjoyable. Writing about Michael Moore is not enjoyable at all. (Though drawing this cartoon was certainly fun!) If MM was still raking in Oscars and getting treated as a beacon of unbiased Truth in film-making I might take it upon myself to provide some small artillery in the fight, but I think his influence and credibility are quickly diminishing to the point where I’d just as soon not think about him and wait until his schlockumentary is released in theaters and then draw another cartoon :) (Actually, I have another idea for one that might get drawn before then, but I can assure you it won’t have much more of my anti-Moore verbiage attached to it)

So, how are your straw men any different from Michael Moore’s?

      • starcasm says:

I’m a snarky celebrity gossip blogger and occasional political cartoonist exploiting the foibles of people in the public spotlight to provide humorous entertainment. I suppose I am willing to concede Michael Moore’s straw men are similar to mine, but I’m not sure they are appropriate tools for someone in his profession. If starcasm.net takes on the economic collapse with the promise of somehow shedding light on the truth of what happened and how to avoid it in the future, I will abandon my straw men. And if Michael Moore starts a celebrity blog where he makes his points with a little snark, then I will allow him his straw men and will try hard to let go of my revulsion.
