LeAnn Rimes doesn’t regret betraying husband Dean Sheremet to marry Eddie Cibrian

51st Annual Grammy Awards held in Los Angeles

LeAnn Rimes believes everything happens for a reason, and when she says “everything,” she is including the affair she had with a married man while being married herself.  People Magazine’s Friday issue will feature an interview with Rimes in which she discusses in detail her separation from Dean Sheremet and subsequent hook-up with actor Eddie Cibrian.  Though the separation played out in detail in the tabloids, this will be the first time Rimes has spoken publicly about the end of her 7-year marriage to Sheremet.

In the interview she tells People, “I did one of the most selfish things that I possibly could do, in hurting someone else.” She adds, “I take responsibility for everything I’ve done. I hate that people got hurt.  But I don’t regret the outcome.”

The country music crooner says that she and Sheremet, 27, a former dancer and current chef at Nobu in New York City, worked on their marriage after her infidelity became public, but that the union, “wasn’t a marriage that fulfilled either one of us.”

Rimes, 27, is currently in a committed relationship with Cibrian, 36.  The two first became friends on the set of the TV movie Northern Lights for Lifetime Television back in November of 2008.  Here is a behind-the-scenes clip of Northern Lights from the official Lifetime YouTube Channel:

Rimes, who is set to release a covers album called Lady and Gentleman later this month, says that it was several months before the friendship escalated.  “It was very emotionally driven.  I never once thought what I was doing was okay.”
