Can you guess this “Metacritic’s” tied-for-worst reviewed movie ever?

Well there it is folks Metacritic’s tied-for-worst rated movie of all time, the legendary stoner disasterpiece Bio-Dome.  With a composite score of one based on ten separate high profile reviews this 1996 stinker is a perennial basement dweller.

Plot Summary:  Two stoners get stuck inside an environmental dome and make bad pot jokes and riff on toilet humor.

Here is the trailer for the Baldwin Brother / Pauly Shore / Weed / Bill and Ted’s un-excellent adventure eyesore for your viewing displeasure:

It was somebody’s job to piece together and edit a trailer for this film!  They had to get folks to want and come see Bio-Dome so stop complaining about your job.  Bio-Dome was directed by Jason Bloom who later went on to create more art with 1998’s Overnight Delivery starring Paul Rudd and Reese Witherspoon.  Yeah I’ve never heard of it either.

And now some of the legendary lines from the two protagonists Doyle and Bud:

DOYLE: “Miss? If you were yogurt, would you be fruit at the bottom or stirred?”

DOYLE: “I’ve never quit anything in my life except for Chinese calligraphy, my Theses 2, Kangaroo Anatomy, Toe Photography, Booger sculpture and masturbation. Well, maybe not masturbation but give me a break it’s the only thing I’m good at.”

BUD: We have chippies, We have chippies, we got lots of stuff to eat!

Well played sir!  the following is a portion of one of the reviews on which the Metacritic score is based.  This is Hal Hinson with The Washington Post:

Halfway into “Bio-Dome,” the malodorous new comedy about a group of scientists whose experiment is spoiled by a pair of polluting intruders, a character complains that their mission has been turned into a “nonstop moronathon.” Perhaps inadvertently, she has perfectly described the movie as well.

A spoof of eco-consciousness starring one-man toxic spill Pauly Shore, “Bio-Dome” offers a pants-load of poop and masturbation jokes, deviant innuendo and simian sight gags destined to gross out and offend just about everyone. All this, of course, is by design. Shore’s brain is a cesspool where the most distressing things keep floating to the surface.”

Bio-Dome isn’t just panned because it’s a stoner flick.  Some famous smoke-out flicks do just fine including Pineapple Express and Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle so don’t get your paraphernalia all in a wad Brosephs.  Bio-Dome is a terrible combination of being really bad but not bad enough to be good in a bad way.  In defense of and to prove that every cloud has a silver lining (even one stuck in a dome) Bio-Dome did feature the debut of  “Tenacious D” on the big screen:

Sadly this wasn’t enough to keep it out of the super mark-down bin of cinematic history.
