New York Yankees’ all-star third baseman Alex Rodriguez must have enjoyed having his personal life in the spotlight during his brief fling with the Queen of Pop Madonna, because he is now moving on to the celebrity relationship big leagues by dating the Real Housewives of New York City‘s most eligible bachelorette Bethenny Frankel.
A few weeks ago a source told the New York Daily News‘ “Gatecrasher” column that the two hooked up a couple months earlier, and that A-Rod had ended it. Bethenny sarcastically copped to the affair by saying, “We’re madly in love; we’re engaged. I fly to Miami every weekend. I’m in the front row when they’re playing. I never felt this way.” Then she clarified, “No, I’ve never been in the same room with him,” adding, “Can it be George Clooney? Can’t it just be the celebrity I want to be aligned with?”
An insider tells the News that Bethenny’s denial sparked A-Rod’s curiosity and led to the eventual “real” hookup – an intimate dinner at a Miami restaurant Friday night.
Sure, Madonna had a few hit records back in the day, starred in a few bad movies and impressed no one with the ability to put bottles in various places, but Bethenny is the REAL deal! In case you missed it, last week’s episode of the Big Apple housewives featured a doubles tennis match between Jill Zarin and Ramona Singer. Some of the cast members arrived in “Team Jill” attire, which has since sparked an international fervor of housewife team allegiance declarations. I’d like to make it official now by declaring starcasm to be a certified member of Team Bethenny, and I’m willing to set petty jealousies aside by welcoming Alex Rodriguez to the team. I congratulate A-Rod for putting his wife and family behind him, leaving Madonna, confessing to using banned substances and completing his spiritual transformation by hooking up with a bona fide Bravo reality show superstarlet – I only hope he can handle the pressure and media scrutiny that goes along with being a real boyfriend of New York City.
