The cast for The First Avenger: Captain America is rounding out as it has been confirmed that Hayley Atwell will play the leading lady role of Peggy Carter. She will be joining the previously announced Chris Evans (Captain America) and Sebastian Stan (Bucky Barnes).

Alice Eve, Keira Knightley and Emily Blount were all rumored for the role so this is quite an impressive accomplishment for the British actress. In the Marvel comic books, Peggy Carter is a French Resistance fighter that connects with Steve Rogers and his team of Invaders during World War II. Peggy is the aunt of Sharon Carter, an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Rogers’ modern love interest in the current Marvel series.
