Details continue to emerge in the suspicious death of 42-year-old mother of two Monica Beresford-Redman, whose body was found Thursday in a sewer close to the luxurious Moon Palace Hotel in Cancun where she and her husband Bruce Beresford-Redman were trying to work out some marital difficulties.
As we reported in a previous post, the “marital difficulties” between Monica and Bruce stemmed from an affair he had with a previously unidentified woman. Now Radar Online has revealed the identity of Bruce Beresford-Redman’s mistress to be casting director Joy Pierce, who worked with Bruce on the USA network’s show Crash Course in 2009 and also on The Contender in 2005.
UPDATE April 22, 2010: Emails and texts now released reveal that Joy Pierce asked to step away from the entire situation after dramatic communications with both Bruce and Monica.
UPDATE November 16, 2010: According to TMZ Bruce Beresford-Redman has been arrested and will be extradited to Mexico to stand trial for the murder of his wife. According to the federal complaint there was blood found in the couple’s hotel room and witnesses in a room below heard a woman screaming for help the night Monica disappeared. “Bruce will be in federal court in downtown L.A. tomorrow,” TMZ says.
Pierce runs JoyJoy Casting and since her name was linked to the Beresford-Redman story she has deleted the company’s accounts on Twitter and MySpace as well as her personal Twitter account and LinkedIn profile.
Field’s most recent credit is as casting director for The Lazy Environmentalist, although her deleted Twitter and MySpace accounts are calling for potential cast members on an upcoming show on The CW called Shed to Wed, which looks to be a show about overweight engaged couples wanting to lose weight. According to a source for Radar Online, Monica Beresford-Redman found out about her husband’s affair about three months ago and the couple had been going to marriage counseling.
“That’s why they went to Mexico — because she decided she wanted to try and reconcile the marriage and she believed he was done with the other woman,” Carla Burgos, Monica’s sister told RadarOnline.com.
Bruce Beresford-Redman has been questioned by Mexican authorities and since released, though he has been instructed not to leave the country.
According to Attorney General Francisco Alor, Monica’s body had “scratches on the neck and signs of asphyxiation” among other things.
