Farrelly Brother Cast The Three Stooges: Sean Penn, Jim Carrey, Benico Del Toro!

Peter and Bobby Farrelly have been trying to find a studio to make their Three Stooges movie for close to a decade, and Variety is reporting that they’ve finally got a taker. MGM has purchased the WB-owned scripts and has made a deal with the company that owns the rights to America’s favorite slapstick comic trio. Already signed on to play Larry is Sean Penn and they are currently negotiating a contract with Jim Carrey to play Curly. The Farrelly Brothers are focused on Benico Del Toro as the final stooge Moe.

Starcasm is lucky to have an exclusive photo from the future set of what could either be a relatively big success or the most chastised flop in the history of the movie industry:

The Three Stooges will star Sean Penn Jim Carrey and Benico Del Toro

One person who definitely won’t be going to see The Three Stooges on the big screen? Bill O’Reilly!

Weird how they decided on Benicio del Toro for a comedy movie. Never seen him in one.

I normally don’t care for Jim Carrey even though most people love him, but my dad is a huge fan and also a huge 3 stooges fan so I’m thinking he won’t be able to pass this one up!

They may have cast Sean Penn because he likes to boink people on the head, but that doesn’t mean he’s going to be any good. He has to boink people on the head and be funny, not anger-management-issues mad – which is going to be kind of a stretch.

The other two might be OK and they might be horrible. As you say, this will either be good or a really rotten tomato of a movie.

I’ve heard Iggy Pop wants to do the soundtrack – but seeing as he’s too busy doing insurance ads in the UK (so much for punk) they’d better stick with the original – pass me that bicycle horn and the xylophone, you ring the bell and blow on that kazoo.

And I hope he doesn’t. Bill the loser.

I think you’re right – this is gonna be feast or famine. Should be fun to sit back and see which way it falls. Nice preview!

Yeah that’s a real shame about sean penn, probably would have been a good movie
