TLC may need to change the title of their super popular polygamist reality show from Sister Wives to Sister Grandmas as the Brown family welcomed their first grandchild this weekend! Jenelle’s oldest daughter Maddie Brown Brush gave birth to her son Axel James Brush on Saturday, her first child with husband Caleb Brush.
Little Axel was born right after midnight on May 20, just barely holding out until his exact due date. The big bundle of joy tipped the scale at 8 pounds, 8 ounces and measured 21 inches long. According to People, Axel “was born after 72 hours of labor — including 12 hours of hard labor and four hours of pushing.”

In the clip, Caleb is sitting with Maddie, who is holding Axel. “Hey guys,” says Caleb. “The wait is over — baby Axel is here, and he is happy.”
“His name is Axel James Brush,” Maddie says, before she opens up about officially becoming a mom. “It feels exciting to be a first-time parent. “I don’t even know how to describe when I first saw him or held him,” Maddie continues. “It was like a bunch of relief, because I was done with labor. It was surreal.”
“For me it was emotional,” new dad Caleb says of seeing and holding his son for the first time, “because I finally have my little boy here. I’m so excited. A very proud moment for me too, being a dad, so my emotions were all over the place: excited, exhausted, concern for her, concern for Axel. But at the same time, I was crying because I’m in love with this little boy.”
Maddie reveals that the first night was easy because Axel “slept for a solid five hours.” She says he woke up, she fed him, changed him, and Axel went right back to sleep for another two hours.
“Right now I think the most exciting part is the newness of it,” says mom Maddie, “we’re parents, we have a kid…growing our little family.”
“I think my calling in life is to be a dad,” says Caleb. “I’ve wanted this since I was young and now that it’s here, I couldn’t be any more happier than I am right now.”
Caleb wrapped up the video by thanking everyone for their positive comments, well wishes, and support throughout Maddie’s pregnancy.
