On Friday night, Bravo fills our prescription for drama with the newest installment of their popular Married To Medicine Franchise based in Houston, Texas. Among the five official cast members of Married To Medicine Houston is cardiologist Dr. Monica Patel, a quadruple certified first generation Indian American that Bravo describes as a “serious doctor by day and a fun-loving social butterfly by night.” But, judging from the preview trailer, Monica is looking to settle down, get married, and have a child with her boyfriend Imad Khalil — like yesterday!
Here’s the preview trailer in which you can see Monica trying to frighten a proposal out of Imad with some terrifying four wheeler driving at the very top of the clip (which might be a trigger for some RHOC viewers):
Later in the video, Monica flatly asks Imad “Are you ready to have a kid and get married?” Although we do not get a response from Imad, his reluctance seems clear as Monica later appears to be quite emotional. “You’re hurting my feelings,” she tells Imad.
“How did that hurt your feelings?” he asks. “Because you’re not giving me what I want,” says Monica.
Towards the end of the clip we see a much more dramatic scene from what looks to be a formal dinner with friends. “Do I look like I have a leash on her?” Imad asks, apparently as a response to comments made by someone else about his reluctance to commit.
“Let me go,” Monica says. “If you don’t want to marry me, let me go.”
Imad doesn’t hesitate. “Go!” We then see Monica stand up and leave!
So does Monica’s boyfriend ever propose? We did a little online research and the answer appears to be a very definitive “yes.”
According to multiple local news reports, Imad finally popped the question with a surprise proposal during the “Bollywood Blitz” charity benefit co-hosted by Monica and her Married To Medicine Houston co-star Cindi Rose in June of last year. I couldn’t find any details other than the very basic “surprise proposal” description, although it was mentioned that Imad had donated a Mitsubishi to auction off, which sold for $20,000.
Although the proposal was nearly a year and a half ago (the show has been filming for a while now), I could find no evidence that Monica Patel and Imad Khalil have gotten married. That doesn’t mean that they haven’t tied the knot, just that there is no evidence I could find online to suggest Imad is actually “married to medicine.” 😉
As far as having kids go, judging from VERY recent photos of Monica as she promoted MTMH, she is not expecting yet. Or, if she is, she is not very far along. Here’s a picture of Monica with Cindi Rose from just a couple weeks ago:
I should also point out that I have scrolled through TONS of photos of Monica over the past year and a half (which was most certainly not a tough task because Monica is one cardiologist that most certainly gets my heart a-pumpin’! ?) and not once have I spotted an engagement ring on her finger. Obviously, that could simply be because Monica knew her potential engagement was going to be a big story line on the show. I just thought I should mention that I did try to find one.
