Jon Gosselin calls Kate Gosselin a liar as feud worsens

Jon Gosselin File for Custody

The latest public war of words between Jon Gosselin and ex-wife Kate Gosselin is getting ugly.

In a recent edition of People featuring a revealing interview with Kate, it was all but said that Jon is an absentee father.

Jon spoke with Entertainment Tonight before Kate’s tell-all was published and stated he was estranged from his older twin daughters:

“Everybody used to come to my house. You know, it was great, and then Madelyn and Cara just stopped coming, around 12-13 [years-old]. I didn’t question it. I was just like, ‘Hey, do what you want, be with your friends’ and then it just became they’re not coming…  They’re moving into womanhood. They’ll be 16 in October. I hope I can talk to them and develop a relationship in the future. But there’s a lot of stuff that has to go on before that.”

Mady responded to People:

“He makes it seem like we’re being kept from him, which is insane. He should maybe spend some time thinking about why we don’t want to see him, and maybe realize that if he ever does want a relationship with us, talking about us on TV is not the way to make that happen… He doesn’t even know us. How can he dare to talk about us?”

Jon replied shortly after the People interviews, explaining to E.T. that he was beyond surprised by what was said. “I’m very upset. I love my children very much. I’ve always been there for them and I always will be. It’s shocking,” he said.

Now the 39-year-old father and DJ has spoken with In Touch to further clarify his reaction to what was claimed in the tell-all:

“That interview is filled with lies. I’m a regular dad trying to spend as much time with my kids as possible. I love all of my children and hope they all know I’m there for them unconditionally. I’m a good dad.”

A source “that knows the former family” told In Touch:

“Kate wanted fame and fortune at any cost.. TLC and Kate agreed that they needed to keep the marriage intact to make the show go on and offered Jon $2 million to sign a contract to stay married for two more years. Jon was told they could have an open marriage behind the scenes but he refused. He didn’t want to have a fake marriage for a TV show.”

Jon added, “She was willing to do it back then to stay relevant, and she’s still doing it now.”
