PHOTO Trump proves he loves Hispanics by eating a taco bowl with questionable provenance

It’s been less than two days since Donald Trump all but locked up the Republican nomination by winning the Indiana primary, and he’s already moving on to the general election by courting the Hispanic vote in true Trump fashion.

Moments ago, Trump posted the photo above on Facebook in which he can be seen at his desk about to dig into a taco salad from his building’s restaurant. “Happy Cinco de Mayo!” Trump captioned the picture, adding: “The best taco bowls are made in Trump Tower Grill. I love Hispanics!”

The Donald’s post instantly had the Trumpolice on the case, and detective pointed out early on in the investigation that the Trump Tower Grill doesn’t actually have taco bowls on its menu. So would #TacoBowlgate be the first major scandal in the 2016 general election? (Assuming that Trump professing his love for Hispanics by eating a taco bowl is such a typical Trumpism that it would hardly be considered scandalous.)

As it turns out, it appears that The Don got his Trump Tower eating establishments mixed up. Although the Trump Tower Grill doesn’t appear to serve taco bowls, the Trump Tower Cafe does. Listed as “Taco fiesta!” for $13.50, the meal is described as “Ground sautéed beef with jalapeños, onions, tomatoes, and chili spices, served in a taco shell topped with lettuce and cheddar cheese.”

I suppose we can’t really be upset at The Donald getting his many restaurants mixed up, so it looks like he might have completely dodged the #TacoBowlgate bullet.

BUT WAIT! According to a food review in New York Eater written by Robert Sietsema and Nick Solares earlier this year, the taco bowl itself can be considered an insult to Hispanics! From their review:

I also ordered “beef tacos” ($13.50) which turned out to be a fried tortilla bowl heaped with romaine lettuce, grated yellow cheese, and plain ground beef that was so devoid of flavor, it rendered an insult to Mexicans every bit as profound as Trump’s previous pronouncements.

It seems that, once again, Trump has proven himself to have more controversial layers than an onion. As Winston Churchill would have said of him, “Trump is an insult, wrapped in an affront, inside an indignity.”

On a side note, no one can deny Trump’s influence! After doing this important piece of journalism, I really, really want a taco bowl.
