On this season of Married At First Sight, it seems all but certain that David Norton and Ashley Doherty aren’t going to last, while there is a lot of hope for Tres Russell and Vanessa Nelson. But what about the fates of Neil Bowlus and Sam Role? Although their dynamic has been pretty difficult to read on the show, thanks to the people of the Internet, there are some good, spoiler-filled clues about whether Sam and Neil are still together.
The already-limited romance between Neil and Sam seems like it will hit a wall in tonight’s episode, “Breaking Down Barriers,” when the couple moves back in with Sam’s roommate. Three tends to be a crowd in marriages, especially those on as shaky as Sam and Neil’s. “There’s no space for me,” Neil said in a preview for Married At First Sight. “It feels like I’m a guest there.” The situation only got worse when Sam instructed Neil to “Betty Crocker it up” in the kitchen while she and her roommate left. But, as awkward as that sounds, it seems like Sam and Neil have one component that means hope for them is still alive: senses of humor!

Putting aside the telling “so glad I married you” comment from Sam, there are some other spoilers that point to Neil and Sam staying married at the end of the Married At First Sight experiment.
Exhibit A: What They Say About Each Other Now The latest participants in Married At First Sight now have more restrictions than ever. Gone are the Facebook pages with uncensored comments and cryptic photos. Now, the cast members can only share couple-y pictures that were released by FYI, and are limited to sharing them on Twitter. So, when they do open up, we’re left to read between the lines. In an interview with The Knot, Sam and Neil seemed much more comfortable with each other than they appear on the show.
“Our silly personalities mesh well together,” Neil said. “We play off each other’s humor and it helps us have fun in this unconventional setting.”
In another new interview with Real Mr. Housewife, Sam said she was unfair with Neil in the beginning. “I was SO hard on Neil at first,” she said. “It’s quite frustrating watching myself treat this amazing man so horribly. I understand everything happens for a reason, but there are times I want to punch that Sam right through the screen!” Then she added the MAFS experience was “the best thing that has ever happened to me as an individual and in my marriage.” That sure makes it sound like the marriage is still active, doesn’t it?
Exhibit B: Reports They’ve Been Seen Together Although the couples that stay together aren’t supposed to actually be together until the show is over, there’s a rumor they were spotted at some point. As someone said in a forum, “I saw Sam and Neal at IKEA last Saturday buying furniture in Atlanta. She had her hair pulled back and his beard was the same length it is now. They seemed quite comfortable and affectionate, but not giddy or silly.” I’m not sure about that, but am slightly more inclined to believe the report Sam transferred to a bank branch closer to Neil’s neck of the woods.
Exhibit C: Decision Day Footage In promos for this season, one couple is seen holding hands on Decision Day, aka when they announced whether they are staying married or getting a divorce… And that couple is Sam and Neil! It is possible they stayed that friendly until the end, but I’m rooting for a true happy ending.
