Rumors about the possibility of an Anna Duggar divorce from beleaguered husband Josh began to swirl last week, following the release of the newest, Anna-centered Jill & Jessa: Counting On trailer. Now, in light of the most recent Duggar family blog post, those rumors have intensified, though the possibility remains unclear.
The Jill & Jessa trailer, while brief, features a teary Anna discussing for the first time the difficulties she’s faced following husband Josh’s infidelities–and the revelation that he molested five underaged girls when he was a teenager. (The possibility that Josh joked about the molestations while at a center intended to help “cure” him probably didn’t help.)
The release of that trailer, ahead of the TLC special’s debut on December 13th, generated a wave of speculation about the future of Anna and Josh’s marriage–and the possibility of a once-unthinkable Anna Duggar divorce. According to at least one report, Josh is pleading with Anna to have another baby with him…in order to “save” their marriage.
“Josh,” said that report’s source, “is so worried that Anna will leave him that he is now convinced she will stay if he can persuade her they should have another child together.” The suggestion, according to another report, is that Josh knows Anna loves how much his wife loves her children, and is banking on that love to help keep her with him, should she become pregnant again.
Which might explain a Duggar family blog post from this past weekend. Entitled “Note to Fathers,” the message is something Jim Bob wrote about he and Michelle’s experiences together–but it’s hard not to think the words are directed toward Josh, especially given how the message ends:
Start protecting your family by removing books, magazines, television, or internet that have worldly or sensual content. Replace them with good things like wholesome music, biographies of great Christians, good old-fashioned family fun and games. Love God with your whole heart and look for opportunities to serve others as a family and tell others about our Saviour.
