Talk show host, victims’ rights advocate, former prosecutor, and voice immodulation sufferer Nancy Grace is adding yet another entry on her rather expansive resume: cooking show host. The 56-year-old mother of twins is the star of HLN’s Cooking With Nancy Grace, a web series available on HLNTV.com starting Monday, November 9.
Nancy’s mother was a classically trained chef, and she tells Vanity Fair that she wants the same experiences for her eight-year-old twins. “I’m going to do my job with all my heart and take care of my children with all my heart and instill all of this in them. I gotta tell you, it’s hard. It is hard,” Nancy says. “So a lot of my recipes are geared around how to make it work for working moms that want those moments of home-cooked meals with their children at night for dinner. I want Lucy and John David to see me working and going to work every day. I do not want Lucy counting on some man to support her, because that doesn’t always work out the way you think it might, but I also want them to have those memories like I have because they really keep me going sometimes.”
Nancy says that the cooking show is refreshing because of the shift in focus from a lifetime enmeshed int he legal system — both as a prosecutor and a commentator. “It’s such a new and joyous thing for me,” Nancy reveals, “because my whole life has been about murder and crime and stopping thugs and trying cases. For so long my whole life—I couldn’t try one case fast enough before the next one, to put that guy away, and that guy, and that guy, and that made me feel better. So I’ve never had this joy before.”
