As Lamar Odom continues to fight for his life at a Las Vegas hospital, the latest reports about his condition are grim. The medical emergency began on Tuesday afternoon when Lamar was found unconscious in his room at a Nevada brothel. He was rushed to the hospital, where he remains in a coma.
Dennis Hof, the owner of the brothel (shown below), initially said there were no signs Lamar was on substances other than an herbal substitute for Viagra. However, he later admitted to E! News Lamar was working his way through a bottle of cognac during his stay at the Love Ranch. “Of course everybody’s thinking, ‘Well, maybe it was drugs.’ We didn’t see any effects of that,” Dennis said. “He was going to sleep every night, and I don’t think he was doing any drugs — although you never can tell. ”
Now E! News — home of Keeping Up With The Kardashians — confirms cocaine and opiates were found in Lamar’s system. “Likely there’s brain damage, but they’re not sure how much,” a source from inside the hospital said, explaining Lamar suffered a loss of oxygen for an unknown period of time as well as a possible stroke. (People reports Lamar has suffered “a couple of strokes” since Tuesday afternoon.) The source added, “Virtually every drug imaginable was found in his system.”
The insider claimed Lamar began partying on Friday night before arriving at the Love Ranch on Saturday. “He was doing crack cocaine all weekend and he choked on his mucous,” the source said. “They’re now having to fix all the damage it has done.” Despite the circumstances, the source emphasized Lamar isn’t brain dead.
While the former NBA star continues to fight for his life, Khloe Kardashian, Kim Kardashian, Kris Jenner and friends have gathered around his hospital bedside. A source close to the Kardashian-Jenner family told People, “Everyone has dropped everything to get there. There are a lot of calls and texts going back and forth as everyone is figuring out how they can help and be there for each other… I’ll tell you this: They wouldn’t just drop everything unless it was serious. The family has been told that this isn’t just a minor thing; that it was extremely serious.”
The situation is especially devastating for Khloe, who finalized her divorce from Lamar in July but never stopped caring for him. “She’s terribly worried and distraught over everything. She tried for so long to help Lamar get better, but he just can’t get rid of his demons,” another source told People. “They talk on the phone and communicate, but half the time she can’t reach him. She’s put so much energy and heart into trying to be there for him through all his troubles.” (UPDATE Despite multiple reports the divorce was finalized, a court rep told Us Weekly a judge is yet to sign off on the papers — so Khloe and Lamar are still legally married.)
As the situation continues to unravel, Radar Online reports Keeping Up With The Kardashians is actively filming at the hospital. “It’s [a] s**t show… The Kardashians are trying to run everything. They walked into the hospital with cameras rolling. It was shocking, but hardly a surprise,” an insider said. “The doctors have been working non-stop to make sure Lamar pulls through and the Kardashians are making everything a circus. It is ridiculous. They’re bossing people around. They are trying to take over the situation, so typical.”
It’s apparent that whoever that source is has a grudge against the Kardashians… Hopefully everyone who is actually involved has Lamar’s best interests at heart.
UPDATE Gossip Cop firmly shot down the report that Keeping Up With The Kardashians is filming at Lamar’s hospital with a rep for Kim saying that rumor is “100 percent false.” TMZ added KUWTK is on a hiatus, so it wouldn’t have been possible for them to film so quickly anyway. “We’re told none of the Kardashians want their hospital vigil public,” TMZ reported. “To the contrary, we’re told the Kardashians have banned any photography in eyeshot of Lamar.”
