Frances Bean Cobain marries, mom Courtney Love sarcastically reacts to not getting invited

Frances Bean Cobain and Courtney Love

Frances Bean Cobain married longtime love Isaiah Silva in front of a small crowd of 13 to 15 people last week, E! News reports. Not among the guests was Frances’ mom, Courtney Love.

“Courtney loves Isaiah, but was devastated to learn that Frances had gotten married without her knowing,” a source said. “Courtney really likes Isaiah and is very happy for Frances. Courtney is sad she wasn’t at the wedding.”

The decision was reportedly a very deliberate one for Frances, 23, who had been planning the wedding in secret for more than one year. The insider added, “Frances called [Courtney] after but understands why she did it. Frances needs a man in her life and has always craved stability. She’s found it in Isaiah.”

There’s no denying the mother and daughter have a complicated relationship. In 2009, when Courtney lost legal custody of then-17-year-old Frances, the teenager testified she couldn’t remember a time her mom wasn’t on drugs. She also said she lived in constant fear her mom would accidentally burn down the house or otherwise injure her.

Frances and Courtney were largely estranged for the next few years — but they recently reconciled.

However, although the source told E! News that Frances’ wedding decision “has not caused a rift between mom and daughter,” Courtney’s latest Instagram post suggests something different.

“If you think I’m sorry for being a no-show at any important events this week, think again. I was with @jamesnorley,” Courtney said, adding #worthflakingonanythingfor, #cancelallmyappointments, #donthate, #jealousmuch and “Bwahaa.”
