Avril Lavigne is saying “see ya later boi” to Chad Kroeger after two years of marriage.
“It is with heavy heart that Chad and I announce our separation today,” Avril said on Instagram, where she paired the announcement with a picture from their July 2013 wedding. “Through not only the marriage, but the music as well, we’ve created many unforgettable moments.”
She went on to thank fans for their support, and said the split is amicable.
Lavigne added, “We are still, and forever will be, the best of friends, and will always care deeply for each other.”
The couple got engaged after dating for one month and married about one year later. Last summer, they were the targets of split rumors, which were fueled by “insiders” who said the Nickelback frontman was “going around L.A. telling people that they are divorcing,” and cited the lack of public appearances by the pair. Avril later put those rumors to (temporary) rest when she credited Chad for his help during the worst of her battle with Lyme disease.
This was the first marriage for Chad and the second for Avril. Coincidentally, Lavigne first ex-husband, Deryck Whibley, remarried just last weekend.
