When a school district superintendent in Mississippi requested that everyone in attendance at a high school graduation remain quiet until the ceremony was completed, he was dead serious! Superintendent Jay Foster filed “disturbing the peace” charges against four people who cheered, and who were subsequently escorted away. Warrants were then issued for their arrest.

Here’s a report filed by WREG that features footage of the alleged criminal activity:

Henry Walker waved a towel above his head briefly and shouted out, “You did it baby,” in tribute to Lanarcia Walker’s accomplishment. He told WREG:

It’s crazy. The fact that I might have to bond out of jail, pay court costs, or a $500 fine for expressing my love, it’s ridiculous man. It’s ridiculous.

Ursula Miller was on hand to support her niece:

When she went across the stage I just called her name out. ‘Lakaydra.’ Just like that. I can understand they can escort me out of the graduation, but to say they going to put me in jail for it. What else are they allowed to do?

Foster declined to comment on camera, but he defended his actions, stating that he was determined to maintain order. He added, “Negative attention will not be tolerated.”
