Caitlyn Jenner on Kris Jenner marriage: I got mistreated

In her debut interview, Caitlyn Jenner said she has no more secrets. Then she proved her point by opening up about her marriage to Kris Jenner.

“The first 15 years I felt she needed me more because I was the breadwinner,” Caitlyn told Vanity Fair. “Then really around the show, when that hit and she was running the whole show and getting credit for it and she had her own money, she didn’t need me as much from that standpoint.”

After their professional dynamic changed, Caitlyn said the way Kris treated her shifted.

“I think in a lot of ways she became less tolerant of me. A lot of times she wasn’t very nice,” Caitlyn said. “People would see how I got mistreated. She controlled the money, all that kind of stuff.”

Speaking with Vanity Fair, Kris said she also felt Caitlyn didn’t handle their marital issues with tact–particularly when her former husband “just decided, ‘I’m done.'” Kris said it felt like “the most passive-aggressive thing I think I’ve ever experienced.” Interestingly, Kris was the only Kardashian woman who didn’t express support on social media for Caitlyn after her first photo was released yesterday.

Even though Caitlyn didn’t like the way she was treated by Kris, she admitted she wasn’t the best person either–especially when it came to her older children. Her three sons and oldest daughter also spoke with Vanity Fair and said Caitlyn was “an insensitive father who had been absent for years at a time.” In recent years, they largely repaired their relationships with Bruce, and said they hope the progress will be even better with Caitlyn.

“I have high hopes that Caitlyn is a better person than Bruce,” Burt Jenner, 36, said. “I’m very much looking forward to that.”
