Are Clay Matthews and Green Bay Packers teammates singing in Pitch Perfect 2?

Green Bay Packers Pitch Perfect

After the great success of Pitch Perfect, producers were able to harness a lot more star power for Pitch Perfect 2. Among those making memorable cameos were Green Bay Packers players Clay Matthews, David Bakhtiari, Josh Sitton, T.J. Lang, Don Barclay and Jordan Rodgers — singing Bootylicious, nonetheless! See part of that in the special Super Bowl trailer…

As it turns out, the guys were game to sing some Destiny’s Child… Even though they didn’t have much of a choice.

“We didn’t have any input, that was a selected song,” Clay told People. “I mean everyone knows that song, how kind of ridiculous it is and how even more ridiculous it is with us singing and dancing to it.”

To prepare for the scene, Clay said the guys spent “several months” practicing. Even though the results were incredibly impressive, Clay seemed pretty humble when talking about his performance.

“I think everybody thinks they’re an amazing singer, but I’m one of those guys who realizes where his limitations are, and it’s definitely with singing and dancing,” he said. “The fact that we were in a singing and dancing movie really allowed us to open up and show what we thought was probably our best moves… I think it was so over the top and so ridiculous that it worked.”

His more experienced a capella co-stars agreed.

“They approached it kind of like they were going out of the tunnel for a big game, which was very exciting,” Skylar Astin told Rich Eisen, explaining the football players were like “old pro” actors by the end of shooting.

Back in January, Anna Kendrick also joked to Seth Meyers that she found it hard to believe she’s in the same species as the Packers players after their day together.
