65-year-old retired Berlin teacher Annegret Raunigk already has 13 children, but that didn’t stop her from trying fertility treatments to have another one.
Her fertility treatments turned out to be a success, and now she’s carrying quadruplets. Her doc recommended a “selective reduction,” but she wanted to continue to carry all the fetuses, and doesn’t expect there to be any problems. She thinks they will “still quite fit.”
Her 13 kids range in ages from 10 to 44, are from five different fathers. She had her last child, Leila at age 55, and has seven grandchildren.
So far the oldest woman ever to have given birth to quadruplets was Merryl Fudel, who was 55.
“I think one needs to decide for oneself and not listen too much to the opinions of others,” Ms. Raunigk says of her choice.
