Last week it was confirmed that the unlucky in love Taylor Swift has recently cozied up to Calvin Harris. According to reports, they met at the Brit Awards last month and have been enjoying each other’s company ever since.
Calvin Harris is one of the most prominent names in the DJ world. He’s worked with the likes of Rihanna, Ellie Goudling, and Kylie Minogue not to mention his own hits such as Summer and Feel So Close. All this success has earned him the #1 ranking as the highest paid DJ in the world.
In 2013, Forbes reported that he pulled in $46 million though he remains grounded and modest saying, “I happened to be in the right place at the right time. I made that decision completely by accident.”
While Calvin is ultra rich and famous around the world, like most stars, he didn’t start out that way. Here’s a pic of Harris back in 2007 at a British music festival.
Talk about a makeover. Calvin’s real name is actually Adam Wiles. He’s 30 years old and hails from Dumfries, Scotland. Growing up, his father was a biochemist while his mom stayed home and raised him and his brother and sister.
Calvin performs at various shows and festivals throughout Europe in addition to his resident DJ gig at the Hakkasan nightclub at the MGM in Vegas. In fact, Hakkasan was named one of “America’s Best New Clubs” by Rolling Stone and was awarded the title of “No. 1 Nightclub in the World” by Playboy.
Did I mention he could also be Ryan Gosling’s brother? Or cousin at least?
Since Taylor and Calvin’s relationship is brand new, it will be interesting to see where it goes from here. Are they the real deal or a publicity stunt?
In fact, not long ago, Calvin visited the Capital FM London breakfast radio show where they did a bit about girls on Tinder. Calvin was asked if he would swipe right (meaning yes, I like) or swipe left (meaning no, I’ll pass) when it came to various celebs. Taylor Swift was on the list and he had this to say about his new gal:
She’s just the opposite of my type. She looks lovely. She’s the opposite of my type so I would just go left.
Not my type? Ouch! Although in his defense, Calvin admitted he likes brunettes. The interview was said to have taken place in November of 2014. I wonder if he would swipe right on Taylor now?
