Derick Dillard announces Jill Dillard is going into labor

Come on, Baby Dilly! Expectant father Derick Dillard announced today that wife Jill Dillard is “beginning to have contractions,” meaning their son’s arrival will happen soon.

“I can’t even describe right now the anticipation I am feeling, as I am about to get to meet my firstborn son for the first time face to face,” Derick said in a new blog post. “From what I’ve learned in birth class and from what I am witnessing right now with Jill, labor pains start sporadically and then become more consistent, longer lasting, and stronger the closer we get to the birth of our son… We can definitely see the evidence that points to his imminent arrival.”

The news isn’t a huge surprise, considering Jill was actually due nine days ago. Before that initial March 24 date, Jill said she anticipated Baby Dilly would arrive closer to April 5.

“I have told myself, ‘First-time moms often go a week and a half over, so don’t get discouraged,'” she told People last week. “The baby will come when the baby comes.”

The 23-year-old stayed busy ever since then by volunteering and taking care of business around the house, which is where she plans to deliver.

Getting some things done while anticipating the arrival of our little man any day! #babydilly

In his post, Derick said the imminent arrival has him thinking about end times, as the two are compared in a Biblical parable.

“Now that I’m about to be a dad, I find it quite interesting that Jesus related the end of the world to the event of birth,” he said. “And it’s easy to relate to because as much as Jill and I want to know when this birth will happen, the day and the hour of baby dilly’s birth is definitely unknown.”

We’ll be sure to keep you posted when there is an official announcement. Until then, we’re wishing Jill a safe and smooth delivery!

UPDATE Jill corrected her overly eager husband by saying she’s just experiencing Braxton Hicks contracts. She even felt well enough for a lunch date!
