Birdman and Cookie to host SNL in April

NBC continues to reveal who will be hosting upcoming episodes of Saturday Night Live, and earlier today the network revealed that the April 4 show will be hosted by Birdman actor Michael Keaton and the next week the honor will go to Taraji P. Henson, who you may know better as the animal printastic Cookie from Fox’s blockbuster new series Empire.

This will be Michael Keaton’s third time hosting, and he will be joined by musical guest Carly Rae Jepsen. This will be the first appearance on SNL for the multi-platinum, Grammy nominated singer-songwriter.

On April 11 SNL will stand for Saturday Night Lyons as Academy and Emmy Award nominated actress Taraji P. Henson hosts for the first time. In case you are unaware (aka LAME), Taraji is currently playing the most colorful, over-the-top character on the most colorful and over-the-top show on network television right now in the form of Empire‘s Cookie Lyons.

I CANNOT WAIT to see what the SNL writers come up with utilizing Cookie’s character! Actually, my suggestion would be a fake scene from Empire in which Cookie is forced to become the manager for the label’s only banjo-pickin’ alt rocker band the Honkey Tonkies (played by the April 11 episode musical guests Mumford & Sons). The scene is a recording session where Cookie tries to add her hip hop know-how to a new Honkey Tonkies recording, including her insistence that there is “just too damn much cowbell!” (Yeah, I went all Cookie Walken. If you have a problem with that, then it’s exactly that: your problem!)

As I mentioned, Taraji P. Henson will be joined by musical guest Mumford & Sons, who will be performing on SNL for the second time just weeks ahead of the release of their new album Wilder Mind on May 4.
