One day after spending $26,000 of her and husband Josh McKee’s hard-earned money on a 2013 Kia Sorento, Teen Mom 3‘s Mackenzie McKee totaled it — and is now on the hook for all of the damages because she didn’t have insurance.
Mackenzie posted the happy top picture on Instagram on Friday.
“Welp… Here we are taking home our new family car. Goodbye teenage car, hello mommy car,” she said. “We have been dreaming of a nice family car to travel in for a while now and have worked hard for this. A lot of hours in the factory for josh and LOTS of hair cuts for this cosmetologist. So happy for our family we deserve it.”
Unfortunately, Mackenzie’s joy was short-lived as TMZ reports she veered off the highway and into a ditch on Saturday night, causing her airbags to deploy. As big of a bummer as that is, it actually sounds like Mackenzie is lucky to be ok because a friend said the accident was caused by her “sky high blood sugar.” Also fortunately, Mackenzie’s two children weren’t in the car at the time of the accident.
Back to the bad news: Mackenzie’s friend said the young mom planned to get insurance on Monday. Not only will she have to pocket all of the repairs, but she was also ticketed for driving without insurance. Ouch.
Mackenzie hasn’t referenced the accident on social media, but was back on wheels by Monday when she took daughter Jaxie for a bike ride.
